Cats Alive SLV is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the San Luis Valley advocating trap/neuter/return as a method of reducing local feral cat populations.

TNR

Trap-Neuter-Return is the humane and effective approach for stray and feral cats. Scientific studies show that Trap-Neuter-Return improves the lives of feral cats, improves their relationships with the people who live near them, and decreases the size of colonies over time.

Mission

Cats Alive SLV's mission is to fill the gap in services by providing affordable spay/neuter for cats belonging to those with little to no disposable income as well as assisting in trapping, neutering and releasing feral cats back into suitable locations, with basic care provided by caring feral colony stewards.

Feral Cats

A feral cat is born and raised outside with no human contact or is a stray that has lived outside long enough to revert to a wild state. Adult feral cats usually cannot be tamed and are most content living outdoors.

Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Vouchers

If you need assistance getting your cat or kitten spayed or neutered, click on APPLY FOR A VOUCHER. Owners will be required to pay $10 per cat; Cats Alive SLV will pick up the balance (when funding is available).

Volunteer

The more we give, the happier we feel! Volunteering with an animal shelter or rescue organization can make a huge impact in the lives and well-being of the animals! Contact Cats Alive SLV for more information about how you can become a volunteer!

Participating Veterinarians

Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Voucher participating veterinarians: Crestone Mobile Vet (males/neuters only) and Monte Vista Animal Clinic. Vouchers are for SPAY OR NEUTER SURGERIES ONLY! Any other services, such as vaccinations, must be paid by owner.

San Luis Valley Pet Resources is not directly affiliated with any shelter or rescue in the San Luis Valley, but we do our best to support them and the work they do for the dogs and cats in the SLV! We try to keep our shelter and rescue pages as current and up to date as possible so you are given accurate information regarding each animal welfare organization.
